Bhubanewar, Dec 21 (LocalWire) The Centre has asked Odisha to be careful while giving business to the National Co-operative Consumers’ Federation (NCCF).
In a letter to Odisha Chief Secretary, Department of Consumer Affairs Secretary Avinash K Srivastava said: “Of late the NCCF is embroiled in numerous litigations against the Government due to some contentious issues. This may be hampering smooth working of the organization.”
“This is to appraise you that at present the NCCF is working without a Government appointed Managing Director or Chairman who had incurred disqualification,” he said.
“You are, therefore, requested to exercise abundant precaution while granting business to the NCCF so as to protect public interest and money,” he added.
The NCCF is a specified multi-state cooperative society that is engaged in public procurement for the benefit of consumers.
It has presence in most states and is engaged in public business with the state authorities, such as dal and paddy procurement, supply of mid-day meals, health kits, textiles, etc.
