Balasore, January 1 (Localwire): Two persons were injured in separate incidents when bears attacked them in tribal-dominated Nilgiri block on Tuesday.
Both the men, Niranjan Palai and Sachindra Nayak, are from village Ayodhya and are undergoing treatment at the local sub-divisional hospital for the bear bite.
Palai had gone out to answer nature’s call, while Nayak was in a nearby reserve forest to collect Sal leaves when the bears attacked them.
Both the bears escaped to the forest when locals chased them.
Nilgiri, Oupada, Khaira, and Soro are bear-infested and the residents here frequently face bear attack as the animals sneak into the human habitations in the foothills to search for food.
