Berhampur, Feb 14 (LocalWire) Berhampur Development Authority (BeDA) and Berhampur Municipal Corporation (BeMC) will develop open spaces to mini children’s park, wellness center, scarp garden and sitting for senior citizens.
BeDA has identified around 37 open spaces at different areas of the city. Of them, 23 will be developed by the BeMC, while 14 will be developed by the BeDA.
“Out of 23 open spaces, we will developed 20 as play areas for children, at a cost of Rs 10 lakh each, two wellness center for Rs 70 lakh and a metal scarp garden with an investment of around Rs 1 crore,” said BeMC commissioner Chakravarti Singh Rathore.
“We have developed 14 open spaces in the city with an investment of around Rs 2 crore,” said BeDA secretary Sambit Kumar Rout.
He said the open spaces of different sizes, located in the city would be enclosed and made sitting arrangements for the elderly.
“A decision in this regard was taken at the authority meeting held on Tuesday,” he said.
The mini children park, to be built in less than one-fourth acres of land, will have walking tracks and sitting arrangements for elders and women as well, sources said.
Plantation will also be made by forest and horticulture departments along the cement boundary wall of around two to three feet heights.
After development, commissioner said they have decided to handover the play area to local community for maintenance.
