Berhampur, Dec 11 (LocalWire) Winter evenings will be more entertaining for the next few days, thanks to a five-day drama festival that is taking place in Berhampur.
Day 1 opened with Angul based group Natyam staging a family drama “Mati Maa”.
The festival has been organized by state government-owned Odisha Sangeet Natak Academi, in association with Odisha Nataka Samaroha Samiti and Ganjam District Cultural Association.
Berhampur MLA R.Ch Chaupatnaik inaugurated the festival on Monday evening.
Every evening, drama groups from across the state, including Bhubaneswar, Rourkela, Sambalpur and Berhampur, will stage their plays.
“Given by the number of audience coming to see the plays, we can safely say theatre has still not lost its flavour,” said Anil Kumar Patra, president of Nataka Samaroha Samiti.
Several dramatists, including Dhirendra Nath Mallick, Rama Raman Padhy, Raju Padhy and Subash Moharana, attended the inaugural ceremony of the festival.
