Berhampur, November 15 (LocalWire): A ‘Wall of Sharing’ practice platform has been inaugurated by Kailash Das a rickshaw puller of the city in the presence of the Berhampur Municipal Corporation (BeMC) commissioner Chakravarti Singh Rathore on Thursday.
Conceptualised by a local NGO Youth for Social Development, the ‘Wall of Sharing’ is a simple concept that enables one to donate anything that they might have in excess.
“If you have something in excess, leave it here. What you need, take from here,” is the simple message and approach of the initiatives that enable people from all walks of the society to come and donate their belongings near the wall, something that can be picked up by someone in need.
The donors are also free to pick up things for their use from the demonstration model at the Berhampur Old Bus Stand, that has been set up by the Youth for Social Development in partnership with BeMC.
The wall, painted green and white has a wooden rack, with a message in the black saying: “Take if you need, put if you have.”
Several civil society organisations like Robin Hood Army, Coalition Against Corruption and environmental and social organisations were present and shared pre-used goods like books and clothes etc. during the inaugural day.
