Berhampur, Dec 12 (LocalWire) The Berhampur Municipal Corporation (BeMC) has decided to set up three more water fountains at prime locations of Silk City with an investment of Rs 30 lakh.
The fountains with dazzling light system will be set up at Kamapalli, entrance of MKCG Medical College and Hospital and First Gate area.
The water fountains will be established as a part of the ongoing city beautification drive undertaken by the civic body, said BeMC commissioner Chakravarti Singh Rathore.
The proposal for the fountains was approved at the corporation meeting held recently. District collector-cum administrator of BeMC Vijay Amruta Kulange presided the meeting.
Tender for the establishment of the fountains have been floated, said the commissioner.
Presently, the city has only one water fountain with lighting system, near Khallikote College.
The water fountains which were established four years ago at Gandhi Nagar road and lying defunct would be get face-lifts soon, he said.
The BeMC has also undertaken a drive to paint walls of the railway over-bridges.
Colourful paintings in public places are among several initiatives taken by the BeMC to beautify the city, said Rathore.
Murals will be painted on the walls of all railway over-bridges, government office buildings, public places and toilet complexes, he said.
During the second phase, the drive will be launched in some other public properties.
The concepts for wall-paintings include the rich cultural heritage of the city, historical back-ground, tribal culture and memorable events.
Paintings of sceneries like water falls, water bodies, beaches, hill stations and greenery are also being painted on the walls.
Around Rs 10 lakh will be spent on the project, said the commissioner.
