Berhampur, Oct 16 (LocalWire): Govind J Chakrapani, the new Vice Chancellor of Berhampur University said his vision was to make the university one of the leading educational institutes in the country.
Chakrapani, professor of Earth Science, Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkey, assumed office today.
He was appointed VC on 30 September for three years.
He said to achieve his dream, he will give priority to recruitment of staff, including teaching faculty, timely conduct of examinations and publication of results, opening new departments and student placement cells.
Infrastructure development of the university, alumni outreach and to improve the grade of the NAAC (National Assessment and Accreditation Council) are some of the areas that would be given priority during his tenure, the new VC, who is also an alumni of the university, said.
‘Several former students of the university are in top positions across the country and abroad.
We will reach them and invite them to deliver talks on different subjects,’ he said.
University staff, including teaching and non-teaching staff and students felicitated Chakrapani.
He also sought the cooperation of everyone to make the university into one of the leading institutes of the country.
