Berhampur, July 7 (LocalWire): The appointment of new vice-chancellor for Berhampur University is likely to get delayed, even though the office of the chancellor has already constituted a three-member search committee for the purpose.
The three-year term of the present vice-chancellor Rajendra Prasad Dash is coming to end on 3 August 2019 but the selection of the new vice-chancellor is unlikely to be completed before the end of his term as the advertisement seeking applications for the post is yet to be released.
“It will take over 30 to 45 days to complete the process for selection of the new VC,” said a senior university official on condition of anonymity.
According to the University Registrar Ranjan Kumar Biswal, he has already discussed the matter related to the advertisement with the chairman of the search committee.
“We are expecting to release the advertisement very soon,” he said.
Sources said as per the process the search committee would scrutinize the applications of the aspirants and would shortlist three candidates for the post of VC of the universities.
The committee would forward the shortlisted names to the chancellor, Governor Ganeshi Lal for the final selection.
The Governor might accept one of the names suggested by the search committees and appoint the person as vice-chancellor after a formal interaction with the candidate or can reject the recommendation of the search committee and ask for fresh names.
