Berhampur, April 26 (Localwire): Berhampur University will introduce eight new post graduate and under-graduate courses from this academic year, an official said on Friday.
The post graduate courses will be on Sociology, Psychology, Anthropology, Telugu language, Public Administration and Education, while under-graduate courses will be on pharmacy and agriculture.
The university will hold a follow up meeting on May 3 before the introduction of the new courses.
Currently, six under-graduate and four post-graduate level courses are offered by the university: Biotechnology, Computer Science, Electronics and Pharmacy in post–graduate level, and Education, Library Science and Information Technology in under-graduate level.
“Keeping in view of the students’ demands of these courses in regular post-graduate level, we have decided to introduce these subjects in self-financing mode,” said vice chancellor Prasad Dash.
Dash said that a separate directorate has been set up for smooth functioning of the courses, while economics professor Sudhakar Patra has been appointed as its head.
“A coordinator has been appointed for each course, and a total of 50 students will be inducted for each subject in each session,” Patra added.
While admission to non-professional courses will be based on the marks scored by the students, admission to professional subjects would be based on an entrance test, he said. Course fees and other provisions are yet to be decided, he added.
Last year, the university had introduced MA in Telugu but it was discontinued due to few takers of the course. Only six students had applied for the course.
