Berhampur, April 26 (LocalWire): Berhampur University planned to implement the anti-plagiarism policy of the University Grants Commission from the current academic session.
It will be applicable to all students, research scholars, teaching faculty as well as staff, the university’s Internal Quality Assurance Cell decided in a meeting today.
While the UGC’s new anti-plagiarism policy allows up to 10% content similarity, Berhampur University, however, planned to increase it up to 20%.
The copied content in all theses above 20% will attract penalty, as per the provisions of the UGC.
All faculty members attended the meeting presided over by the Vice-Chancellor Rajendra Prasad Dash.
It was also decided that before implementation of the decision, it needs to be approved by the academic council and syndicate, the highest decision making body of the university, said Pratap Kumar Mohanty, director of IQAC.
The main objective of implantation of the anti-plagiarism policy in the
university is to improve the quality in research, said VC Dash.
It would also build a good image of the university.
He said major educational institutes of the country have already implemented this policy.
‘University will procure the anti-plagiarism tool (software) soon for the purpose,’ said Mohanty.
He said the university discussed with the Information and Library Network to get the anti-plagiarism tool free of cost.
