Berhampur, January 8 (Localwire): Train and bus services in Ganjam district came to grinding halt due to the Bharat Bandh call given by different trade unions on Wednesday.
At least four trains, including three express and passenger trains and a goods train, was detained by the bandh supporters who blocked the track at Berhampur station here.
Similarly, the bandh supporters also picketed at the New Bus stand area forcing the passenger buses of the routes.
In may be noted that the state government has declared a holiday in educational institutions, including schools and colleges in view of the bandh.
According to early reports, most of the shops and business establishments in Berhampur, the biggest commercial hub of southern Odisha, are also closed due to the Bandh.
Sources disclosed that the police have made adequate security arrangements and deployed additional forces in Berhampur.
“No untoward incident has been reported so far from the city,” police sources said.
