Bhubaneswar, 7 Jan (LocalWire): A nationwide 24-hour strike called by 10 trade unions protesting the government’s ‘anti-people’ policies tomorrow is likely to affect normal life across the state as transport service, banks, railways and other vital services will be affected.
Commuters will be inconvenienced as public transport will stay off roads on 8 January. Private bus owners of Odisha have decided to stay off roads tomorrow in view of safety reasons.
‘We will ensure that train services are not affected and National Highways remain free from blockades during the Bandh tomorrow. Police will be deployed at the Secretariat and other important offices,’ DCP Anup Sahoo said.
‘This has in no way any bearing to the BJD’s decision to either support or oppose tomorrow’s strike. I accept and respect whatever decision our party supremo takes,’ state minister for food supplies and consumer welfare, Ranendra Pratap Swain, said.
