Bhubaneswar, May 1 (LocalWire): Actress Bhoomika Dash has been chosen as the goodwill ambassador of PECUC, an organisation working for the protection of children’s rights, for 2019-2021. Sportsperson Anshika Routray was appointed as goodwill ambassador to promote the rights of children to play at the Regional Science Centre, Bhubaneswar, on the occasion of national anti-child labour day, yesterday.
Ranjan Kumar Mohanty, eminent child rights activist and secretary of PECUC, said the organisation is working towards a child-friendly Odisha and trying to end all sorts of violence on children.
PECUC is devoted to the promotion and protection of rights of children guided by the framework of the United Nation Convention on the Rights of the Child.
In order to promote and strengthen the rights of children, PECUC has come up with the concept of goodwill ambassadors since 2010.
The ambassadors help raise awareness of children’s rights to education, safe places to play and learn and the impact of violence, bullying and poverty.
Akankhya Kabi, the outgoing goodwill ambassador of PECUC presented the sash to both the new ambassadors and wished them.
‘It’s a huge honour to join as PECUC’s goodwill ambassador and I am looking forward to campaign for promoting rights of children, to end child labour, promote quality education for all, to end violence on children and to promote a conducive environment where children can lead a dignified life,’ 16-year-old Bhoomika said.
