Bhubaneswar, Dec 30 (LocalWire): Air quality slipped to hazardous levels tonite in specific pockets of Odisha’s bustling capital city here.
The air quality index recoded by Skymet, a global weather monitoring agency at 8.27 pm today was assessed as ‘very poor’ category.
Mancheswar industrial estate area in the city is currently bearing the brunt of alarming air pollution with a recorded air quality index (AQI) of 340 range followed by Jayadev Vihar 312 range and Khandagiri 290 range, Skymet report stated.
An AQI between 0- 50 is considered good, 51-100 satisfactory, 101-200 moderate, 201-300 poor, 301-400 very poor and 401-500 severe.
An AQI above 500 falls in the ‘severe plus’ category.
Mancheswar, Jayadev Vihar and Khandagiri areas are bearing the brunt of vehicular pollution with the national highway and other busy roads passing through these three bustling urban settlements.
