Puri, March 13 (LocalWire): Puri police have busted a gang of motorcycle thieves after eight people were arrested and 33 stolen bikes were seized, a media report said on Wednesday.
Police had been probing several cases of bike thefts lodged in different parts of the city, including Puri sea beach, Kumbharpada, Talabania, Chandanpur, Khurda and Delang.
The breakthrough came, after a tip-off to police regarding movement of some gang members.
IG Soumendra Priyadarshi said, “We have arrested eight people involved in bike theft cases.”
The arrested have been identified as Dipu, alias Deepak Sahoo, Toofan, Linga, alias Lingaraj Pradhan, Badal, alias Rakesh Pradhan, Fellu, alias Bighnesh Pradhan, Dhedia, alias Sumanta Majhi, Deepak Pradhan and Anil, alias Sunil Kumar Pradhan.
“We have identified almost all bike owners after verifying engine and chassis numbers of the seized two-wheelers,” OTV quoted Priyadarshi as saying.
