Jagatsinghpur, April 17 (LocalWire): A flying squad on Wednesday seized Rs one lakh from a motorcycle-borne man after he was asked to stop at a check-post at Madhusudanpur in Jagatsinghpur constituency.
The flying squads have been conducting vehicle checks across the district to track movement of illegal cash and gifts meant for distribution to voters.
The biker was transporting the cash without supporting documents. He also failed to give a valid reason one being asked about the cash, said an official.
Earlier in another case, Rs 3 lakh was seized from a car at Balia chowk of Cuttack-Nuagaon national highway under Tirtol assembly constituency while the flying squads were conducting checks.
So far, nearly rupees 15 lakhs have been seized by fling squads at different locations. In many cases, couriers were not able to produce valid supporting documents.
