Rourkela, Oct 25(LocalWire):Biramitrapur Police arrested a homeguard and his associate and solved the cash loot on 15 October when miscreants had decamped with money meant for pensioners of five gram panchayats.
The police arrested one homeguard Anil Kumar Mistry and his associate Amit K Patra who worked at the Block office.
Police are also on the lookout for four people involved in the crime.
IIC Biramitrapur, Anand Kumar Majhi said, ‘four are absconding but we will soon arrest them as we have made a breakthrough in this regard.’
Police became suspicious of Mistry and Patra since the latter was showing too much curiosity in the investigation.
‘The needle of suspicion turned on him because he would try to extract information from the block office,’ said Majhi.
The guard of the vehicle had given some lead which led to Patra.
Police had earlier rounded up three persons including Patra.
Police initially suspected gangs across the border to be involved in the crime as several times in the past such crimes were committed by gangs from Jharkhand.
