Bhubaneswar, August 24 (LocalWire): Special relief commissioner and OSDMA managing director Bishnupada Sethi, whose prompt endeavour in evacuating people from vulnerable areas when the severe cyclone Fani had hit the Odisha coast on May 3, had been nominated for the prestigious Rotary Heritage Excellence Award 2018.
The 1995-batch IAS officer, Sethi will receive the award instituted by Rotary Club of Bhubaneswar Heritage at a function later today.
The young bureaucrat had received the prestigious Technology Sabha Awards instituted by The Indian Express group earlier this month.
Under his stewardship, the state government launched the early warning dissemination system, which incidentally is the first-of-its-kind automatic public address system in the country.
The system paid its dividends as it was largely responsible for safe evacuation and safety of human lives when cyclone Fani barreled through Odisha on 3 May, this year.
