Bhubaneswar, Sept 24 (LocalWire): Senior All India Congress Committee (AICC) leader Digvijay Thursday termed the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) as ‘anti-farmer parties’.
He was speaking at a presser in Bhubaneswar on the controversial farmer bills passed by the Parliament recently.
He said that though BJD opposed the bill in the Rajya Sabha but it had been supporting BJP. “Both the BJD and BJP are anti-farmer and anti-poor parties.
Both are hand in gloves. Although BJD opposed the bills in Parliament but it had always supported the BJP,” he said.
He also attacked the BJP government at the Centre and said that the disputed bills brought forward by them was an alleged way of introducing the Multi-National Companies into the farming trade of the country.
Singh also accused the Prime Minister Narendra Modi of succumbing to the international trade pressure. “In the name of Ease of Doing Business, the Modi government has been adding more obstacles for the farmers for their livelihood and trade,” he said.
He cited some provisions of the bills and said that they worked towards reducing the state powers and powers of local administration which they Congress party had brought through decades of work.
