Salepur, Jan 29 (LocalWire) Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Amit Shah on Tuesday lashed out at the ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD) and opposition Congress in Odisha and accused them for hindering the prosperity of the state.
Addressing a booth-level workers’ convention ‘Karyakarta Samabesh’ at Kulia in Salepur, Shah said: “Both BJD and Congress have failed Odisha. They did not let Odisha prosper.”
“The state is so rich in minerals and natural resources. Then, why Odias have not experienced their much-deserved development? Give us a chance. We assure you of all-round development,” said Shah.
“People of Odisha are being deprived of centre’s schemes due to the narrow mind of the ruling BJD government here,” said the BJP veteran.
“Look at what Congress did to India during its regime – people did not even have basic amenities like cooking gas connections, medical benefits and electricity. And see the difference now, after Narendra Modi was voted to power,” he said.
Shah arrived Biju Patnaik International Airport in Bhubaneswar on Tuesday.
He began his Odisha visit by paying tribute and garlanding a statue of poet and freedom fighter Utkal Gourab Madhusudan Das in Satyabhamapur of Odisha’s Cuttack.
After that he left for Kulia to attend the convention where he interacted with over 30,000 booth-level workers of Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapada and Jajpur districts.
He will visit Odisha again on Feb 3.
