Bhubaneswar, Feb 27 (LocalWIre) Ruling BJD got a boost on Tuesday with several people, including two royal scions of Ganjam and Gajapati districts joined the party in a ceremony at Naveen Niwas here.
Kalyani Devi, daughter of former MP (Berhampur) Gopinath Narayan Dev and the royal scion of Paralakhemundi and Bira Kishore Deo, son of former MLA UN Deo and scion of Pudamari royal in Ganjam district are among them.
About 50- year old Kalyani Devi is the daughter of former MP (Berhampur) Gopinath Gajapati Narayan Dev and daughter-in-law of Maharaja Krushna Chandra Narayan Dev, who had played a pivotal role in formation of a separate Odisha state in language basis in April 1, 1936 and first prime minister of the state.
“I have joined in the BJD after seeing the development works undertaken by the chief minister,” said Kalyani Devi. She, however, said she was joined in the party without any condition.
‘I will carry out what the party assigned me” she said. There would be no difficult in politics as my father was in politics.
Her father Gopinath Gajapati was two times MPs from Berhampur in Congress ticket in 1989 and 1991. He is now in sick and bed-ridden.
Similarly Bira Kishore Deo, son of UN Deo, the three times MLA from Mohana and royal scion of Pudamari.
Pudamari is now in Sanakhemundi assembly constituency. “I liked the development work of the state and believe, Naveen Patnaik is only capable to progress the state,” he said
“The royal family has a lot of contribution to the state in general, particular to Paralakhemundi. People of the state has respected to the royal family. When the scion of the royal family joined in the BJD, the party’s organization will be strengthened” said former union minister and BJD leader Chandra Sekhar Sahu, who was presented during their joining.
