Bhubaneswar, Sept 18 (LocalWire): The Biju Janata Dal (BJD) today attacked the CBI for conducting raids at the residence of senior party leader Debi Prasad Mishra, ahead of by-elections.
BJD Spokesperson Lenin Mohanty today questioned the timing of the raids and said that the central agency often does such searches and raids before an election in the state.
He said, “A pattern is seen that the CBI starts conducting searches, raids and issues notices just before the by-elections, General Elections and Panchayat elections,”
He also said that the CBI has been investigating the case in Odisha over the past seven years and the people of Odisha were wondering why such things happen before any election.
BJP leader Prithiviraj Harichandan however said that there was nothing wrong in the raids and it was a part of an investigation.
“Those who conducted misappropriations and indulged in irregularities are likely to face the legal consequences. There is no link to elections with the raids,”
The Congress party however termed the whole episode an eye wash. Party leader Taraprasad Bahinipati said that there had been a secret understanding between the two parties and approval for such raids were given by the BJD Chief himself.
