New Delhi, Sep 15 (LocalWire): BJD MP Dr Sasmit Patra raised the issue of allotment of land for the setting up of Odisha Cultural Centre and Library in New Delhi, through a special mention in Parliament today.
Dr. Patra spoke on the rich culture and traditions of Odisha in his letter.
While Odia is one of the four classical languages of the country, he mentioned how Odissi dance is universally loved.
Odia food, textiles, handlooms and handicrafts are globally acclaimed, he wrote.
“As such, if the culture of Odisha is displayed in a special place in the capital, it can attract the attention of international tourists,” he said.
On December 7, 2019, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik wrote to the Union Minister for Housing and Urban Development to provide land in Delhi for the establishment of the Odisha Cultural Center and Library.
It has been 9 months; however, the central government has not taken any action.
Patra has requested the government to look into the matter and expedite the process of land allotment.
