Bhubaneswar, Dec 17 (LocalWire): The Biju Janata Dal (BJD) on Monday said the party will stage a demonstration in front of the Parliament on January 8 demanding hike in the Minimum Support Price (MSP) of paddy.
Senior party leaders lashed out at the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government at the Centre and said it betrayed Odisha farmers with false assurance to increase MSP of paddy.
They criticised the BJP government for not hiking paddy MSP in accordance with the recommendations of the Swaminatnan Committee.
BJD Rajya Sabha member Prasanna Acharya at a press meet here said: “We demand the hike of paddy MSP to Rs. 2930 and implementation of the recommendations of the Swaminatnan Committee.”
The BJD workers and leaders will leave for New Delhi from Bhubaneswar on January 6 on a special train and arrive there on January 7.
