Bhubaneswar, Jan 9 (LocalWire) Odisha chief minister and Biju Janata Dal (BJD) supremo Naveen Patnaik on Wednesday made it clear that his part won’t be part of Mahagathabandhan, a grand alliance of opposition parties.
“BJD will continue to maintain equidistance from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Congress. We won’t be part of the Mahagathabandhan,” Patnaik told reporters.
On Tuesday, addressing a farmers’ convention – Krushak Adhikar Samabesh – at Talkatora Stadium in New Delhi, Patnaik had said his party would soon decide on the grand alliance.
Earlier on Dec 23, Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao (KCR) had visited Bhubaneswar to meet Patnaik, where the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) supremo became quite vocal about the need for a Third Front before the 2019 General Elections, while Patnaik had remained indecisive.
