Jagatsinghpur, May 15 (LocalWire): BJP strongly criticized the Jagatsinghpur district administration as it failed to provide kerosene, electricity or relief materials even after 14 days of cyclone Fani.
He also vowed to ‘gherao Collectorate’ if the administration didn’t help the cyclone-affected people at the earliest.
Addressing the media, BJP leader and Tirtol Assembly candidate, Ramakant Bhoi, questioned the district administration for not declaring the district as ‘fully cyclone-affected district’.
He said the administration declared Biridi and Raghunathpur blocks as the fully damaged, but the cyclone-affected people of these two blocks were given Rs 500 instead of Rs 2500 while people from neighbouring Cuttack district were getting Rs 2500.
He said the Centre provided free kerosene to the people but no one has yet received it.
He said people demonstrated and blocked roads in Biridi, Raghunathpur since power supply was not restored and relief management has failed totally.
He said the Tirtol tehsil has distributed polythene to only ten families among hundreds and the needy are living under the open sky.
Bhoi alleged that the disaster in this state was due to the government’s failure to tackle the situation.
Both state government and administration have failed to take appropriate steps so we have demanded an investigation into the matter and punishment for those responsible for such mismanagement.
