Paradip, Nov 1 (LocalWire): Bhartiya Janta Party activists today squatted in a mass dharna in front of Paradip Municipality protesting several irregularities and corruption in the proposed Kalinga Baliyatra tender process.
The popular open air festival will be held from 11-17 November by the Paradip sea shore at Biju Maidan.
To make Baliyatra more attractive, Paradip Municipality had invited tenders from reputed firms.
The last date of receipt of sealed bid is on 2 November and the bid will be opened at 3.30 p.m.
But BJP activists alleged that although a day is still left for opening of bid but eighty percent work like tents, stalls, gates and other stuff have been completed in clear violation of tender process.
Invitation of tender is only a farce, they complained as there are large number of irregularities and misappropriation of fund for allotting a particular person by local BJD leaders.
Similarly, another tender had also invited reputed firms for sanitation work, cleanliness drive, erection of Baliyatra mandap, construction of footstep near the statue of Mahatama Gandhi, installation of six temporary latrines, 12 temporary urinals and construction of road.
The opening of this tender is also tomorrow.
Before opening this bid nearly fifty percent work has been completed.
Additional district Magistrate, Paradip Kanhu Charan Dhir said, ‘We have directed Kujang tehsildar to remove the stalls and tents that have been erected.
First time, the committee has invited e-tender to maintain transparency so there will be no irregularities on tender process.
Agency which would get tender tomorrow will be allocated work for on Kalinga Baliyatra.’
