Jagatsinghpur, Sept 19 (LocalWire): BJP leaders today vowed to intensify their stir if police fail to solve the sensational murder of the nurse whose body was found in a sack by the Biluakhai river bank, within 48 hours.
BJP leaders said the murder could have been averted if the police had been alert and intervened immediately after receiving complains from the victim’s mother and the manager of the nursing home.
A two-member BJP team led by Mahila Morcha state president Pravati Parida, today visited the spot from where the decomposed body of the 24-year-old victim was found.
They also visited her uncle’s house where she was staying and interacted with her relatives to ascertain the real cause of her murder.
Later, they spoke to police officials and urged them to arrest the suspect.
Mahila Morcha leader Lekhashree Samantasinghar blamed police failure for the murder of Niharika Patra who was missing since 8 September from MM Nursing home in Cuttack.
Next day the manager of the nursing home had lodged an FIR in Madhupatana police station but the police sat on the file.
The victim’s mother had also requested the local police to locate her daughter but the police did not act. Timely intervention could have saved her life, they said.
‘It is either failure of the police machinery or negligence on the part of the state government. We have given them 48-hours-time to arrest the culprits or else we will intensify our state-wide agitation,’ she added.
BJP leaders met DGP Bijay Kumar Sharma in Bhubaneswar and urged him to look into the case.
After recovery of the body of the nurse, her mother Pratima Patra had lodged an FIR in Biridi police station against suspected Kishore Ojha alias Raja as her daughter had left the nursing home with him.
Jagatsinghpur SDPO, Prakash Chandra Pal said, ‘Although the family members of the nurse identified her body a DNA test will be conducted for its proper identification.
Family members of Ojha have been questioned and we expect to arrest the suspect soon and solve the mystery.’
