Jajpur, Nov 1 (LocalWire): Senior BJP leader and leader of Opposition in the state Assembly Pradipta Kumar Naik today demanded CBI inquiry into the mysterious death of Smitarani Biswal, the Panchayat Executive Officer of Haridaspur gram panchayat at the guest house of Rupesh Bhadra, the husband of the sarpanch on 16 October.
‘Smitarani was gang-raped and killed but the police are trying to shield the culprits.
Our party demands CBI probe into the incident. We will raise this issue in the Assembly soon,’ said Naik.
He along with other senior BJP leaders Gautam Roy, Golakh Bihari Nayak, MLAs Bishnu Sethi, Mohan Majhi, Sukant Nayak and others met the husband, parents and other family members of Smitarani at village Choramuha today.
He also alleged that Rupesh Bhadra, the accused in the alleged abatement of suicide of the Smitarani illegally built a two-storeyed guest house over the forest land where her body was found.
But the authorities are yet to demolish the building.
Sadananda Biswal, the father of Smitarani said, ‘Our lives are in danger after I filed an FIR against Rupesh Bhadra, a senior BJD leader and husband of Madhusmita Bhadra, the sarpanch.
My daughter was killed by miscreants and we demand action against the persons involved.
Now we are planning to leave the state for our safety.’
