Bhubaneswar, March 19 (LocalWire): Congress on Tuesday accused BJP of robbing Odisha jobs by shifting two key lucrative railways departments to Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka.
“The Modi government has put the railway’s Waltair division in Odisha under the supervision of a newly-created zone in Vishakhapatnam. This is being done to woo Andhra voters,” it claimed.
Also, the Railway Electrification Office in Bhubaneswar was shifted to Bengaluru ahead of elections to influence the Karnataka voters, state Congress chief Niranjan Patnaik alleged.
“This is another drama ‘bazi’ of Mr. Modi. But it has been done at the cost of Odisha’s interest,” Patnaik said in a press release.
He claimed that due to Congress efforts the railways’ lucrative Odisha operations were brought under the Eastern Coastal Zone instead of the earlier South Eastern Railway Zone.
But the BJP-led centre is trying to weaken the Eastern Coastal Zone by shifting a key department under the supervision of a new zone in Visakhapatnam, he alleged.
Patnaik described the move as anti-Odisha and claimed that BJP is trying its best to open an account in Andhra Pradesh in next month’s general elections.
The Congress leader also accused the ruling BJD of remaining silent on the issue.
He urged the public to raise their voice against Centre’s alleged “step-motherly attitude” and BJD’s silence, by not giving them any vote in the elections.
