Kendrapara, July 10 (LocalWire): Senior BJP leader and Union Minister of state for animal husbandry, dairy and fisheries and micro, small and medium enterprises, Pratap Sarangi, scaled up his battle with the BJD supremo and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today by lambasting him and predicting BJD’s defeat in the Patkura by-election while addressing a meeting at Panchupandab.
Targeting Naveen Patnaik, Sarangi alleged that the chief minister and his party benefited the most from the multi-crore chit fund scam in the state, which duped thousands of investors.
‘Ever since the Modi government came into power, no single allegation of corruption has been leveled against us,’ said Sarangi.
‘In Patkura, the BJP wave continues and the voters want Mohapatra to enter the state Assembly. The people will vote for BJP,’ he added.
‘Law and order has completely collapsed in Odisha under the BJD government and the crime graph is skyrocketing against women and children.
Modi is taking the country in the right direction,’ Sarangi said.
Addressing the meeting, Mohapatra, the BJP candidate from Patkura said, ‘Vote for me and teach Naveen Patnaik a lesson and let him realise that I cannot be kept out of Odisha politics.’
The meeting was also addressed by the BJP district unit president, Dyurodhan Sahoo, senior BJP leader Bhuban Mohan Jena and others.
‘BJD’ s hold over the constituency has slackened as many local leaders who hoped to get a ticket after the death of BJD candidate Ved Prakash Agarwalla are now opposing the candidature of his widow Sabitri Agrawalla.
The BJD’s claim of a ‘wave’ in its favour is ‘imaginary,’ said Prabir Sahoo of Garadpur.
