Berhampur: March 23 (LocalWire): The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is yet to name its candidate from all-important Hinjili, the home turf of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, who’s seeking a re-election from the seat for fifth consecutive time.
BJP had recently declared candidates for 14 out of 15 assembly seats in Ganjam and Gajapati districts but left out Hinjili.
“The party wants to field a strong candidate to challenge Naveen Patnaik, hence the delay,” said Ganjam district BJP president Kanhu Charana Pati.
According to sources, BJP may nominate former BJD leader Debananda Mohapatra from Hinjili.
Congress, meanwhile, nominated Rama Krushna Panda from the seat. He has been a party worker for past 20 years.
“I will highlight local problems like non-attendance of teachers in school, doctors in hospital, as well as lack of irrigation facilities in the area during my campaign,” said Panda.
