Berhampur, Nov 15 (Localwire) A head clerk of Bhanjanagara Block Education Office (BEO) was arrested by vigilence sleuths on Wednesday for allegedly taking a bribe of Rs 10,000 from a Sikshya Sahayak.
Accused Priyadarshi Das allegedly accepted the bribe to prepare arrear bills of 65 Sikshya Sahayaks, including the complainant, towards regularization of their services from last July, said Berhampur Superintendent of Police (Vigilance) Mayadhar Swain.
Acting on a tip off, the sleuths caught him red-handed on the office premises and recovered the bribe money, sources said. Post Das’ arrest, his rented house at Bramha Nagara second line was also searched.
In a separate incident, the vigilance sleuths on Tuesday arrested senior draftswoman of Berhampur Development Authority (BeDA) Ch Baneeshri for accepting a bribe Rs 12,000 from a person for approval of a building plan. The bribe money was recovered from her, sources said.
