Bhubaneswar, December 14 (LocalWire): As part of its effort to create a plastic-free environment, the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) will be launching an exchange programme to provide one Aahar meal for every half kg of plastic.
The programme that is being implemented in collaboration with UNDP and Touch Stone Foundation will be launched on 16 December in all 11 Aahar centres in the state capital, BMC sources said.
The initiative will begin at 10.45 on Monday in the Aahar centre near BMC head office here, sources said, adding that subsequently the programme will be made operation at other centres.
Aahar, a popular scheme by the BJD government, was launched in the state on 1 April 2015 to provide a cooked meal to the poor and needy people at Rs 5 per meal.
