Bhubneswar, Mar 18 (Local Wire): The Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) on Wednesday ordered closure of some of the leading and most crowded market places in the state capital by 6 pm everyday till the end of this month.
The notice from the urban local body comes into action citing the Standard Operating Protocol (SOP) of the state government as per the new regulation relating to ways to mitigate Coronavirus.
As per the notification, seven market places have been ordered to be closed before 6pm.
These include-Unit-I daily market/haat, Unit-II market, Saheed Nagar daily market, Ruchika daily market, Old town daily market, Indradhanu daily market and Damana Haat.
The notice from BMC said, “…it is seen that there is un-controllable crowds observed during the evening time at major markets within BMC limits which is in contrast to the SOP given and also to the social distancing protocol issued by the Odisha government,”
It also added, “Now therefore to contain the possibility of spread of COVID 19due to large congregation in the market place it is ordered that the seven markets mentioned in the list shall function from 6am to 6pm till March 31,2020.”
