Bhubaneswar, Dec 19 (Local Wire):The Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) on Wednesday said it will be working with United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and Hindustan Coca-Cola Beverages to put in place a sustainable plastic waste management system in the city.
A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed among the three organisations at BMC office on Tuesday.
Under this collaborative venture, a 6,000 sq. ft area Swachhata Kendra will be established near Temporary Transit Station (TTS) for transport of solid waste, near Sainik School in the city.
Aiming to streamline plastic recycling in the city, the project will initially be implemented in 10 BMC wards .
Swachhta Kendras or “integrated material recovery centres” will work for recycling all types of plastic, imncluding PET, HPDE, LDPE, PVC, PP and PS.
