Paradip, October 8 (LocalWire): Three fishermen went missing while two others were rescued after their country boat capsized at Mahanadi river mouth near Nehru Bangla in Paradip on Tuesday.
The boat Maa Jadua was returning to Nehru Bangla fishing harbor in the afternoon after fishing in deep-sea at the Paradip coast when it capsized due to strong current following heavy tidal wave.
Hearing their scream, other boats rushed to the spot and rescued two of the five fishermen.
These rescued fishermen have been shifted to Atharbanki Hospital for treatment where their condition is stated to be normal.
The local marine police and fishermen have been pressed into service to rescue the three missing men.
According to Paradip Marine police station inspector-in-charge Pradyumna Kishore Behera, the three fishermen were seen floating at the Mahanadi river mouth with the help of plastic jar but the rescue team failed to reach the spot due to heavy tidal wave and rough sea.
“Despite heavy tidal wave, we are continuing with our search operation to rescue them,” he stated.
It may be recalled that in September this year another boat with seven fishermen had capsized at the Mahanadi river mouth. They were rescued by the local police and fishermen.
