Bolangir, August 26 (LocalWire): Former Bolangir MP Kalikesh Singhdeo demanded a high level inquiry into the unprecedented flood situation in Bolangir after visiting the flood-affected areas of town.
He donated sarees to the flood-affected people.
‘There was unprecedented rainfall in Bolangir few days ago.
Around 50,000 people were affected. Today, I have come to meet the people,’ Singhdeo told media persons.
‘We demand a high-level inquiry into the flood and why this occurred and how this can be controlled in the future.
People blamed the flood on construction of check dam in Laxmijore, a rivulet that flows through the town.
During the course of inquiry if any lapses are found by the management in handling the flood situation, prompt action should be taken.
In case of any lapses in structure and planning, corrective action should be taken.
We have requested the Chief Minister for extra quota of houses for Bolangir town under Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana for the affected people,’ Singhdeo said.
‘I will talk with the district Collector in the evening to discuss for their rehabilitation,’ Singhdeo added.
