Bolangir, Dec 3 (LocalWire) The Bolangir District Bar Association and Central Action Committee (CAC) on Monday have called a 24-hour bandh demanding setting up of a permanent Orissa High Court bench in the district.
While several political parties and social organizations have supported the shutdown, it’s the common people who faced disruptions in their schedule.
Normal life was hit since early morning due to the bandh. Educational institutions, business establishments, markets, shops, as well as government and non-government offices remained closed.
The “Rail Roko” agitation at Bolangir railway station affected train services too.
The East Coast Railway (ECoR) was forced to either cancel, partially cancel or divert several trains.
Earlier, on Nov 29-30, the Sambalpur Bar Association, along with other organisations, had called a 48-hour Maha Bandh demanding establishment of a permanent bench of high court in the district.
However, Bolangir lawyers stayed away from the Maha Bandh and called for a separate agitation.
