Bhubaneswar, December 14 (LocalWire): In order to further strengthen security in the Maoist-hit Malkangiri district, the Border Security Force (BSF) has set up a base camp in a far-flung forest belt of Andhra Pradesh and Odisha.
The base camp at the Hantalgoda forest area was inaugurated at a simple but colourful function on Saturday.
While the locals voluntarily took part in the function, people were elated seeing the unfurling of the tricolor, Malkangiri superintendent of police Khilari Rishikesh Dnyandeo said.
According to officials, the BSF deployment will enhance the combing operation to flush out the Maoists from their hideouts in the area that is widely considered as the epicenter of left-wing extremism.
“It is a positive step to curb left-wing extremism in Malkangiri.
The completion of Gurupriya Bridge has given a boost to connectivity.
The Maoists have gradually retreated from Malkangiri and have been pushed deep into the forests due to increased combing operation on them,” Dnyandeo stated.
