Berhampur, February 18 (LocalWire): Employees of state-owned telecom firm BSNL have commenced three days strike in Odisha on Monday to press their 11 charter of demands including pay hike and allotment of 4G Spectrum to BSNL.
Hundreds of employees staged protests in front of the telecom offices in different places.
The protesters locked the main gate of the office in the southern town of Berhampur and prevented officials from entering.
The strike in Odisha is being observed in response to the nationwide strike called by the All Unions and Associations of BSNL (AUAB).
The employees are also demanding third pay revision with 15 per cent fitment, allotment of 4G spectrum to BSNL, revision of pension of retired employees, delinking of pension revision from the pay revision etc.
“The BSNL unions have been raising these demands for several years. The central government, however, did not take any measure” Odisha circle convenor SR Das told LocalWire.
