Balasore, November 9 (LocalWire): This coastal district has been experiencing incessant moderate to heavy rain accompanied with a cyclonic storm since Friday night across all blocks here.
The district administration has been closely monitoring the situation and over 170 people, including 125 of Baliapal, 27 Bhograi and 18 of Bahanaga from low lying patches close to the seacoast have been evacuated to safer places.
According to the district emergency officer Abhay Kumar Nayak, the evacuees have been moved to multipurpose cyclone centres.
While all schools and Anganwadi centres have been ordered to remain closed, the court that generally holds Lok Adalats on second Saturday has differed the hearings to next Sunday, 17 December 2019. Being a second Saturday, all government offices and establishments are closed.
This rain has not just forced the locals to remain indoors the accompanying cyclonic storm has also thrown the life out of gear.
Meanwhile, officials of the missile testing centres here are closely monitoring the situation.
According to ITR director ITR Dr BK Das, all movement of cyclone Bulbul is being tracked.
“The movement and situation are tracked and monitored by our weather radars. All stations are secured while they are on alert. The Dhamara Island is secured and coastal surveillance is activated,” Das said, adding that there was no issue of concern yet.
