Bhubaneswar, November 9 (LocalWire):The cyclone Bulbul-induced rainfall might have affected the daily life here, but it has provided a refreshing break from air pollution.
Air pollution in Jayadev Vihar, which had assumed alarming proportions in the bustling Jayadev Vihar locality, has reduced towards an ambient standard, thanks to the storm and downpour.
If the air quality report projected today by Skymet is any indication, the Air Quality Index (AQI) is assessed at 63 in Jayadev Vihar.
The busy junction of the city today attained ambient and healthy air standard after a week long spell of alarming air pollution
Incidentally, Jayadev Vihar being the central junction of the city bears the load of heavy vehicular traffic. It is also surrounded by commercial complexes and thickly populated settlement private colonies.
The AQI level in Jayadev Vihar hovered around 260 and PM 2.5 particulate matter less than 2.5 microns in diameter that lodge deep in the lungs during the past few days.
While Skymet had recommended the use of the ‘face mask’ and air purifier as a precautionary measure to avoid intake of polluted air, it had also advised people to refrain from outdoor exercise.
However, these precautionary warnings were withdrawn on Saturday in view of the improved level of air quality.
