Balasore, Nov10 (LocalWire): The cyclonic storm Bulbul has left a trail of destruction with uprooted trees and electric poles everywhere, although no loss of life was reported.
Strong wind blowing at 80 km per hour caused massive damages across all blocks .
According to metrological sources the district received about 324 mm of rain fall and about 2000 people from the low lying areas and sea coast have been rescued to safer places .
Several kuchha houses were damaged and uprooted trees and poles caused disruption in telephone , internet, power and road communication . Due to disruption of power supply, drinking water was also affected in several pockets.
The obstacles are being removed by the NDRF and ODRAF.
Although the exact figure of damages to the ready to harvest paddy is yet to be received but it haa been estimated to be more than 10,000 acres of land.
While evacuees were odged in 21 temporary shelters the highest number of people, about 1600, were shifted in Jaleswar block.
About 150 residents were rescued from the town’s low-lying areas and lodged in a school and they are being provided with dry as well as cooked food by the administration .
Most of the shops and business establishments were closed and the roads deserted.
Today, since morning the rain has stopped although the sky is cloudy and overcast.
