Paradip, Dec 5 )LocalWire) Industrialist Mahimananda Mishra, who is in judicial custody in a murder case, was admitted to All India Institute of Medical Sciences, (AIIMS) Bhubaneswar for treatment, police said on Wednesday.
Kujang sub-jail superintendent Ashok Kumar Behera said: “Mishra is suffering from several diseases, including neurological and orthopedic. We had sent him to Srirama Chandra Bhanja (SCB) Medical College and Hospital, Cuttack for treatment. But they referred him to AIIMS, Bhuabaneswer.”
Mishra was sent to Kujang sub-jail twice in connection with Mahendra Swain murder case after his bail petition was rejected by the Supreme Court last September.
A day after the Supreme Court rejected Mishra’s bail plea, he surrendered before the Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC), Kujang. Later, the court sent him to Kujang sub-jail.
Pertinently, on May 16, 2017, the Orissa High Court had granted conditional bail to Mishra in the connection with the murder of Mahendra Swain, general manager of Hyderabad-based stevedoring company Seaways Shipping and Logistics Limited (SSLL).
Post the high court order, the Odisha government had moved the Supreme Court opposing the bail. Acting on the petition, the apex court rejected his bail on last September.
Mishra was arrested from Bangkok in December 2016 for masterminding Swain’s murder on Oct 26, 2016 in Paradip.
