Bhubaneswar, Sept 29 (LocalWire): The Election Commission of India (ECI) today announced the date of Odisha by-elections for two Assembly constituencies.
The poll watchdog said that the bypolls for Tirtol and Balasore would be done on November 3 while the results for the same would be out by November 10.
According to the details furnished by the ECI and Odisha Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), the notification for the polls would be on October 9 while the last date of nominations will be on October 16.
The two bypolls were slated after the demise of the incumbent MLAs from the areas. As Balasore MLA Madan Mohan Dutta and Tirtol MLA Bishnu Charan Das died as serving legislators, the seats fell vacant and now the bypolls would fill those vacant posts.
The BJD, BJP and the Congress parties in the recent past have expressed confidence on the performance of their parties in the bypolls.
The parties have now also reached their culminating phase of selection of candidates for the bypolls.
