Bhubaneswar, June 7 (Local Wire): The State Cabinet which sat today under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik decided to accord ‘Bande Utkal Janani’ as the state official song of Odisha.
According to the plan, after the patriotic Odia pride song gets the status, it will become an integral part of the official purposes.
Earlier the famous song was sung in cultural and political events and other places unofficially.
State Parliamentary Minister Bikram Keshari Arukha said that all the verses of the song will get the privilege and declared the decision as historic.
With the status, the song will mark the beginning of government functions and assembly sessions soon.
It is set to be recorded with the government soon.
The government claimed that like the national anthem the citizens will be binding to stand in respect to the state song except for exempted categories.
Schools in Odisha are also expected to include the same in their school curriculum.
