Bhubaneswar, Feb 12 (LocalWire): With state assembly as well as Lok Sabha elections merely a couple of months away, the Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) on Tuewsday said it has initiated steps to expedite the candidate selection process.
Congress president Rahul Gandhi has already directed the state representatives to finalize candidates by February-end.
To expedite the candidate selection process, chairperson of All India Congress Committee (AICC) Screening Committee for Odisha VD Satheesan and other member of the committee Naushad Solanki will arrive here on Wednesday on a two-day visit.
According to OPCC sources, the duo will have a meeting with the party leaders of Lok Sabha and assembly constituencies in Cuttack, Bhubaneswar, Puri and Jagatsinghpur.
The two members of the screening committee will also visit Koraput and Jeypore, where they will have a meeting with the party leaders, including the district presidents and PCC members of the Lok Sabha and assembly constituencies in Kalahandi and Nabarangpur districts.
Apart from this, they will also hold a meeting with party leaders of Berhampur, Aska and other important assembly constituencies in South Odisha.
Based on the opinion of the leaders in these districts, the two members will have a meeting with the OPCC members on February 15 to finalize the names.
