Berhampur, Sept 6 (LocalWire): The search committee’s second meeting to shortlist contenders for the post of Berhampur University vice chancellor, will be held on 10-11 September.
The committee, will shortlist the names of three candidates after interacting with them.
They will then recommend the selected names to the Governor, who is also the Chancellor of the state universities, for the final selection.
The first meeting of the search committee, to scrutinise the applications, was held on 30 August.
Led by retired IAS officer Chinmaya Basu the other members of the search committee include former vice chancellor of BU Aditya Prasad Padhy, Ashok Das, vice chairman, Council of Higher Secondary Education (CHSE) and former vice chancellor, Utkal University, as the nominee of syndicate.
Sources said the search committee selected 26 aspirants who they will interact with during the two days.
As many as 32 candidates had applied for the prestigious post.
At least six retired and in-service professors of Berhampur University have applied for the post this time, reliable sources said.
‘The appointment of the new VC for BU is likely to be completed in the third week of the current month,’ said a senior officer of higher education department.
