Bhubaneswar, Dec 19 (Local Wire):The Odisha government is implementing a project on early warning dissemination system in six coastal districts to ensure last mile connectivity for early disaster warning communication, said a senior official.
A demonstration on Common Alert Protocol (CAP) was conducted in this regard here on Tuesday.
CAP solution has been developed by the Department of Telecommunication (DoT) and Centre for Development of Telematics (C-DoT).
Disaster management messages can be disseminated to the public in a selected geographical area by sending mass SMS to all mobile subscribers within the geographical area, including those on roaming, under this system.
Besides, disaster warning messages can be disseminated through TV, radio, electronic display board, etc. by transmission of the message through CAP.
Pilot testing of this platform has previously been carried out in different states.
